Why urbanism matters

Giving equity and access to all

Who has access to our communities? If we only prioritize building communities for the driving population, then we are excluding those who cannot afford to drive or have the physical ability to drive.

Safety and Livability

Urban design and infrastructure that facilitates and encourages high vehicle speeds is unsafe for everyone, including drivers. We need streets that protect vulnerable users and slow traffic to safer levels to allow people to exist in our communities.

Environmentally and Financially Sustainable

Urban Sprawl has an extremely high carbon footprint, and locks individuals into high carbon living. In addition, it is expensive and inefficient to provide services to communities designed this way, which means the only way to keep taxes affordable is to subsidize through continued growth
